How I created a professional + apporachable Brand Identity for a female financial advisor

Erin Rose Financial is a Financial Advice service run by Erin Mason in Edinburgh, Scotland. Erin is super passionate about helping women take control of their financial future. Being non-judgemental, professional and knowledgeable are values that are very important to Erin, so her new branding and social media template design needed to reflect that.

Erin first filled out the extensive questionnaire, allowing me to learn more about her ideal clients, where she sits in the market place and who she is as a business owner and what story her branding needs to tell.

After that we had a long chat about her answers and the ideas she pinned to her Pinterest moodboard.

A lot of the visuals Erin liked had flowers on them and were drawn in a single line. We spoke about how obviously her business name had the word rose in it and that it would be nice to incorporate that into her new logo. Not taking it too literal though, pictures of roses were not allowed. We also spoke about how Erin loves gardening and how flowers and plants represent growth, something that is at the heart of what she does.

With all this information I started designing three logo options and three colour palette options to present to Erin.

I always ask my clients to be honest with me and to have a good look at the logos. To let me know what they love and what they don’t love about them. This way I know what to tweak and what to keep. Erin loved the second option, but didn’t want to exclude the third. She didn’t like how the ER reminded her of the royal mail logo (understandably). Erin loved the purple colour palette I presented her but was wondering if we could add a couple of variations.

So I went back to the drawing board and tweaked the second logo to incorporate her ideas. After I sent her the revision Erin decided to stick with logo option 2. We went on to tweak it a bit further and came up with the final logo and submarks:

Logo design showing a flower in a circle. Submark design of abstract flower in 4 different colour options

Once the logo was finalised we worked on adding the final touches to the other elements of her brand identity. The colour palette, submarks and fonts.

Both of us were super happy with this brand design as it shouts elegance, approachability and high-quality.

From there we moved on to the social media templates. Wanting to keep it light and fresh with a touch of gold - this is an impression of what we came up with.
